Meet Beau!
Update!! Beau-Beau (adopted from Doberman Rescue of NC, Inc. in April 2004) was out with this ‘Mom’ and his smaller breed ‘sisters’ while ‘Mom’ was doing some yard work. Suddenly, Beau leapt onto something in the grass not far from his ‘Mom’. A battle ensued with Beau being lead warrior…alternating between attacking the intruder and warding off his ‘sisters’ who had come to get in on the attack. Beau took multiple bites to the face and a full load of venom from a copperhead! Although these pictures may look comical, Beau was seriously wounded. He was rushed to the vet and by the time he got there, one of his eyes was swollen shut and his breathing was obstructed due to the swelling around his neck, mouth and muzzle. Poor Beau couldn’t even close his mouth. After medication and a painful recovery, Beau is now fine and back to his beautiful self. He was lucky to get immediate and competent veterinary care. Beau-Beau is a valiant, brave protector, and he is our hero!!!
