Meet Moose!

I remember telling Kevin that I didn't know why Moose pulled at my heart so, he had been taken care of, no sad story to pull at my heart. Well, little did I know....this past Saturday I was up later than normal and like always I let the dogs out before I went to sleep. I got in bed and in no time was off to dreamland. At about 3:30am Jesse (my first rescued Dobie) woke me up pacing the room and whining. I thought he need to go out again and got up so he could go out, very grateful that he woke me up. About an hour later Moose woke me up also pacing the floor and whining, but he didn't want out. I laid back down and was trying to go to sleep when I noticed Moose sitting in the doorway to my room staring up the hallway. I thought he was watching the kittens play. All of a sudden, I hear what at first sounds like water, then I realized the Moose was peeing on the floor, remember he is sitting down, not standing or hiking his leg. I thought that was strange but fussed at him and made him go outside. I came back down my hallway to get my rechargeable Bissell carpet cleaner (a little hand held thing). When I picked it up I noticed that the bottom was red and glowing, it had a short and was very rapidly catching on fire. If Moose had not urinated on the floor I would have let him outside to potty and then we would have gone back to sleep, never knowing. If I had not gotten to it when I did and a fire started, where it was stored would have made it impossible for me to get to my daughter without going out my window (which would have been my only way out) and then breaking her window to get her out. Moose saved not only our house but possibly our lives too. When all was said and I told him he could pee anywhere he wanted to! Kevin has not even met him yet and thinks he is the greatest dog ever, me too! So, when someone asks if a rescue dog bonds with you, feel free to share our story. I had to share this event with you because without him who knows what would have happened, he's our hero!

Aren't they the sweetest!!!??!!

(Moose is the middle dobe)
