Meet Jagen!

Jagen came to live with me last October when a friend of Doberman Rescue of NC informed me of his situation. Jagen was dumped at a humane society in Raleigh where the workers promptly called the rescue to let her know that they had “a very special Doberman here”. Jagen had a tumor on the top of his head but other than being a bit on the thin side, he was in good health. We found out that he had been in at least three homes in his short three years of life.
I was a bit apprehensive about adopting a male as I had never owned one before. I balked but the friend that informed me of his plight talked me into at least just seeing him. I did and that was all she wrote. I absolutely fell in love with this handsome, wonderful boy.
Jagen and I are inseparable and are currently training in AKC obedience and Schutzhund. Jagen has a BH, WAC, and one leg on his CD so far. That photo of us is from an obedience trial in Columbia, South Carolina, where Jagen got 2nd place and Highest Scoring Doberman. My goals for us are a UD and at least a SchH I. He seems to really enjoy tracking so we may pursue an FH or TD title down the line. Jagen certainly has his
share of scars from being bounced around to three different homes in his short life but he tries every day to work through them and gets more and more confident. Some of the “odder” fears he has include camera flashes, flashlights, and cell phones. I also noticed recently when a man was using a loud stern voice at a dog show that Jagen cringed and crawled
under my chair. Like someone told me, “the stories Jagen could tell you would probably make your hair curl!”.
I am so blessed and lucky to be Jagen’s human!! He is absolutely a joy to share my life with! Jagen is so good that he has the run of the house while I’m at work and never messes or chews up anything. He sometimes gets this spurt of energy out in the yard and he will run around in big circles as fast as he can with his butt tucked in. It is the funniest thing!! Jagen is my silly special boy and I am so thankful to be his “forever mom”. I cringe at what Jagen’s fate would have been if the wonderful people at that Humane Society had not contacted Cyndi at DRNC!
