Meet Gracie!

I had a really rough start in life. I was the runt of the litter and slated for euthanasia because the breeder was embarrassed by me. A kind lady rescued me just in the nick of time. The Pilots N Paws and Doberman Assistance Network organizations flew me to my foster home where my new life began. I was weak, tiny, and sick because of emaciation and coccidian, and no one expected me to survive. My foster mom forced nutrients and water into me every two hours for seven days until I felt good enough to eat and drink on my own. She would not rest until I was out of danger and, when it looked like I would die, she even ordered me to fight for my life. Which is precisely what I did!

I was seven weeks old when I arrived so my life with them is all I know. As I grew up I got a lot of guidance from another foster dog, Cooper. He showed me how to be a great dog and to talk with all kinds of dogs. It was wonderful to spend so many months with him.

My greatest gift was when my foster family decided to adopt me. My foster mom took me to all kinds of classes to teach me how to behave, learn agility and learn search & rescue. I just love to play. My foster mom uses a water sprayer to get the other dogs attention when they misbehave. She thought it would work on me, and it does - I love to be sprayed.  Especially when I can catch some of that water. In addition to play, I love snuggling and attention.

I have a brother named Dexter, though I call him Mr. Cranky Pants. I also have fun with all the foster dogs that come in and go out of my life. My official title is Miss Welcome Wagon 'cause I'm the dog who gets along with everyone.

I love my humans so much that sometimes they have to push me outdoors to play with the other dogs. That's fine for awhile, but my humans should be outside playing too. I don’t like it when I’m apart from them, and will whine until they let me back in. I also don’t like it when they scold me but I’ve learned how to use my big, beautiful brown eyes to get quick forgiveness. Humans are such suckers!

Long story short, it’s great to be alive and in a home where I'm loved. I sure am lucky to have found such a great family!

Love,
Gracie
