Meet Cinder!

Hi, my name used to be Cinder and now it has changed to MISTER…the man of the house. I currently moved to the Queen City, Charlotte NC, in August 2008 to my forever home. My birthday was in August and I turned a year old. When my new owner came to see me, I only weighed about 55 to 60 pounds. Now I’m about 70 pounds and spoiled rotten. I was a little skittish at first but now my only duty for the day is to pretend that I’m watching the house while my owner is at work and I lounge on the leather couch, gnaw on some milk bones, chew toys and a Kong toy until she gets home. I greet her with a ‘I’m happy your home and glad to see you smile but can you please, please let me outside for a few minutes?’. Once outside I let everyone know that I’m free with my loud bark at everything I see or hear.

I feel like I am the man of the house, no one, and I mean no one, comes in the yard, driveway or front door without me first sounding the alarm of thunder in my bark, and once in, she makes me sit and they have to stand at attention and let me inspect first before they’re allowed to come in…(I let her know they are okay for entry with a little tail wag.) Then she gives me a treat...Oh boy, talk about easy work. Oh, and Auntie Ellen, don’t worry about obedience - she has a friend who is a Policeman and raises Dobermans. I visit for socialization and he works with me on the weekends for basic training in my new house. Then she works with me every day until bedtime during the week she REALLY makes me work and she gives me tons of treats.

On my first week here, we went to the mountains for a hike and then a swim in the river. That was sooo much fun. I even jumped in off a 4 foot bank. Then a trip to the beach for the day and now that Thanksgiving is here we’re headed to Wilmington for some sight- seeing. I really love my new home and I think my owner loves me too. Thanks, Doberman Rescue of NC, for getting me such a nice place to kick back in, and PS, she has a fireplace too - maybe I can catch Santa coming down the chimney.

Love,

Mister…the new man in charge!
